P&T

Part of my job is doing a Parent and Toddler class, a class where parents come and stay with their toddlers. It's twice a week for 1.5 hours each. It's for kids under the age of two, too young for our mainstream program. It's basically a mini version of my morning class, and is meant to familiarize children with the act of going to school.
The kids come with a parent, a nanny, or a grandparent. It's frustrating when it's the grandparent, because they generally don't speak English themselves. They often let the child roam around the classroom (followed by the grandparent) while the rest of us are sitting in a circle. It's clear to see who has the power in that relationship. It's even more frustrating when a parent does this. These children will probably be on their own in my classroom in August. If parents can't control their kids or tell them "no" sometimes, how do they expect me to do it?
I hope I'm not like that as a parent.
